Malaysia National Day Celebration 2024 (Sambutan Hari Kebangsaan 2024) will be held on 31 August 2024 at Dataran Putrajaya, Malaysia’s administrative capital. Under the theme “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka”, this event marks the country’s 67th anniversary of independence from British rule.
Highlights of the celebration include a grand parade with military and community groups, a thrilling combat performance by the army, impressive vehicle displays by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), captivating arts and dance performances, and a spectacular aerial display by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). Additionally, the carnival will feature 100 stalls offering a variety of food and retail items for all visitors.
As in previous years, the event is anticipated to attract hundreds of thousands of spectators from across Malaysia, as well as international tourists. For the best experience, consider using public transport, arriving early, and securing a prime spot. Approximately 8,000 seats will be available.
Please note that there will be three days of rehearsals open to the public from 27 – 29 August 2024 (Tuesday – Thursday). However, be aware that there will be road closures on both the rehearsal days and the event day.
Important Notes: On 28 August 2024, the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) announced the cancellation of the celebratory event at Dataran Merdeka in KL, originally scheduled for 30 August 2024, in respect for the victims of the recent sinkhole incident. However, the official National Day parade at Dataran Putrajaya, as detailed on this page, will continue as planned.
